Early in his career, Thomas developed advanced SOI-CMOS characterization, physical modeling and circuit-level performance evaluation with STMicroelectronics and CNRS. 

BIO

  • Joining CEA-Leti in 1997, he led a variety of collaborative research projects with SOITEC, STMicroelectronics, IBM, Freescale and NXP and also helped launch the gas sensing start-up, APIX. He also led the team developing the first CMOS 3D-stacked nanowires. 

  • He now serves as the institute's chief scientist and vice president of research with responsibility for long-term research strategy and partnerships. He has authored or co-authored more than 180 technical papers and communications presented at international conferences and has created or co-created 20 patents. 
  • His professional affiliations include serving on committees of the VLSI technology symposium, and the IEDM, ESSDERC, ULIS, ICICDT and DATE conferences. He also serves as secretary of IEEE EDS France. Thomas received a research grant from the European Research Council (ERC) to develop multiphysics-integrated smart systems for sensing application.
  • He received his Electronics Engineering degree, Ph.D. degree and accreditation for Ph.D. supervision from the National Polytechnics Institute of Grenoble (France) in the field of electronics and microelectronics.
